When it Rains it Pours
So much has happened in this family, it's difficult to know where to begin. Lindsey came home from the hospital, was feeling good pretty quickly, and had a wonderful Christmas at the Skogens. We also had a great Christmas here, Andy was home and we had wonderful get togethers on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Shelley is recuperating nicely from her surgery, and Mike returned to us on the 27th to be with her. On the 26th, Lindsey and Jacob returned from Chattanooga and she has begun her pre-transplant chemo's and is doing well. In fact she is in the basement cooking dinner right now. She has tolerated 3 small treatments so far and is feeling a little 'weird'; but no nausea and she is able to tolerate cooking smells, so that's all good ! Unfortunately, we've had a few other family 'mishaps' that have just made things even more interesting around here. Shelley got into a fender bender on the way to the airport to pick up Mike ~ just before she left the house, I actually told her to take my car, but we couldn't find the keys. My car was out front and her car was in the garage and I was trying to save her from having to navigate the stairs on her crutches. She had to take her own car. Divine intervention is real - no doubt about it ! Unfortunately for her, she crumpled her Honda instead of my Lexus ~ aaaaaaahhhh ! The following day, I got a call from Andy's co-pilot telling me that he is in the emergency room in New Orleans with vertigo. He was piloting a flight from Mexico to JFK, and just over New Orleans his whole world started tipping, so they had to divert. Those lucky travelers got to watch their pilot taken off the plane in an ambulance ~ I'll bet that scared 'em ! Andy says the passengers were all still in a good mood from their vacation, so that helped. Yesterday, I drove to pick him up. Fortunately, I didn't have to go all of the way down to Louisiana, as gracious friends of ours in New Orleans brought him part of the way, and we met up in Mobile, Alabama. (Remember the families that we helped after Katrina? It was Marigold Carter and her husband who helped us !) Andy is still quite dizzy, and his ear is still plugged, but he is recuperating. Let's just top that off with Cubbie, our dog who has had gastro-intestinal distress all over the place for the last day or so. ARE WE HAVING FUN YET ?? Oh yes, it actually has started raining and pouring here in Atlanta, and that is the good news....................
