Transplant Day

Lindsey received Shelley's Stem Cell's today ~ it was administered at Northside Hospital, where she was monitored for most of the day, and then released. Now, every day she and Jacob will go to the BMT Clinic for 6-8 hours where she will receive fluids and whatever other blood support she needs in order to engraft her new immune system. At some point, we expect that she will be hospitalized, perhaps even more than once. That will be determined by her daily blood draw and vital signs, which they take every day at the BMT Clinic. Jacob takes her temperature regularly, and if it ever exceeds 100.5, or she has other signs of GVHD, she may be admitted to the hospital. We expect that will happen some time in the next 10 days or so. Her spirits are good, and Jacob is a wonderful caregiver. They will get through this together and begin their new life together. We know that God is with them and that they have the prayers and support of all of you during this crucial time.
