Procedure Went Well and Good News

Today was an unusual day, that's for sure. Lindsey was due to check into the hospital at 9 a.m. First thing this morning Jacob woke up with a raised rash all over his body ~ it lasted a few hours and went away. However, because of that, we had to take precautions to protect Lindsey's "baby" immune system. Andy is nursing some cold symptoms, so I escorted Lindsey to the hospital, where she was admitted in order to sort out this little something in her lung. When we got to her room, they told her she was to have a bronchoscopy right away ~ well that would've been a good thing to know BEFORE she ate breakfast ~ her doctor had told her she was going in the hospital, but did not mention a procedure so soon. So, since she had eaten, they had to wait until this afternoon to do the Bronchoscopy. No biggie. Everything went well with it, and she is now resting comfortably. The anesthesia leaves you in a wonderful, drowsy, place, and if you're lucky, it doesn't wear off quickly. She keeps waking up and asking me the same questions over and over ~ it's hilarious! Anyway, poor Jacob is banished from being around Lindsey until Monday just in case what popped up is more than an allergic reaction, so Lindsey suggested he go to his parents house for the weekend. His brothers are there, and he gets to go to RP for Church on Sunday. Lindsey's Doctor's asked that he not be around Lindsey until at least Monday ~ presuming he has no more weird symptoms. If anything else comes up, we've got an Internist we're going to send him to down here on Monday. We pray that Jacob doesn't have anything happen over the weekend, Lindsey and Jacob don't like it when they are away from each other ! Shelley is coming home for the weekend, and is going to come up here tomorrow and we are going to try to keep Lindsey entertained all day. They won't be doing anything in particular for her over the weekend, just giving her IV Antibiotics, and fluids. The doctor's explained that they wanted to get Lindsey in here today for the bronchoscopy so that they could get a jump on this before it grows anymore. You can't get any surgery scheduled on the weekend, and by Monday, it might have a chance to get worse. But, even though they got the Bronchoscopy procedure done, we won't have laboratory results until Monday or Tuesday. So, we're just hanging out here at Northside Hospital, watching Food Network and hoping there's some good college basketball on this weekend. At first, they didn't have a room in the BMT Unit for Lindsey, so she is in a regular room. However, one came up just a short while ago, so we'll be moving. The good thing about all of this is that even though the CT Scan did show a bit more of the cloudiness in her lung, since she has been on such great anti-fungals for two weeks they seem to think that is not what has. Fungal infections are the most stubborn, so we are crossing our fingers for a simple bacterial infection. Lindsey isn't having anything serious done to her this evening, so I am going to go home to sleep and return with Shelley in the Morning. Though Lindsey is in the hospital, this is not because she is doing significantly worse. The Doctor just said that what can be accomplished in a few days inpatient would takes weeks out-patient, so we may as well nip this little thing in the bud early on. And we agree. Keep praying for things to be simple, simple, simple. Thats the way we like it.
