Plans are in the works

As I write this, Lindsey's case is being presented to a Thoracic Conference. Her case is being presented by Dr. Clinton Medbery, a medical and radiologic oncologist, who specializes in Cyberknife Radiosurgery. He has reviewed all of her medical records and is presenting his plan of treatment to the conference so that the other physicians in the conference may give their input to her treatment plan. Cyberknife is a relatively new technology, and is the 'next generation' of radiation therapy. Dr. Medbery is probably the pre-eminent Cyberknife physician in the country, and has been using it since it's inception. The technology uses image-guided robotics to accurately pinpoint high dose radiation without damaging the surrounding tissues. Given the location of the Lindsey's mediastinal mass in her chest, and the necessity for high dose radiation, we are hoping that this procedure will be the answer for her. Once the final treatment plan is in place, we will travel to Oklahoma City for the initial phase of her treatment. That could be as early as next week ! If you are interested in learning about Cyberknife Radiosurgery, go to the following website: http://www.cyberknifesupport.org/CyberKnife_Radiosurgery_Patients_Guide_Brochure.pdf You may recognize the last name of the Physician that will be treating Lindsey - the pre-eminent Cyberknife expert in the country is Robbie's brother; it is no coincidence that she moved into the house next door to us and she continues to be our guide through all of this. It is truly like have a personal physician at your service 24/7. Besides saving Lindsey's life at the start of all of this, she has continued to help us navigate the medical maze that confronts all patients with a serious illness. (Not to mention all of the times she helped us manage the many complications that Lindsey has had to endure.) Robbie is Lindsey's guardian angel, and God has put her in our lives, there is no doubt !
