back home

After the treatment on Friday, Lindsey and I hit the road and made it back to Chattanooga by 11 p.m. Lindsey and Jacob got back into their normal routine right away, and Lindsey is teaching her second graders today. She is starting to feel a few side effects of the treatment, but it's not anything unmanageable; she's tired, and feels heaviness in her chest from the radiation. She will be able to rest and take things slowly for the next week or so. No word on her and Shelley's HLA testing yet, we expect that to come in soon. We're starting our planning for their return to our home. We don't have a timeframe for that yet, but it should be sometime between now and the end of the year. If Shelley is a match, things will happen more quickly than if we get a donor from the national registry. We're cleaning out the basement, and will have it finished so that Jacob and Lindsey and Cooper will have their own space. We'll put in a bedroom and bathroom, with a living area and kitchen.
