2 nights in the BIG HOUSE

The Big House is what we call the Bone Marrow Transplant ward at Northside Hospital. That term started from the BMT clinic nurses who had to send people to the big house when they came in feeling really sick and their blood work was too low to send them home......everybody getting a transplant tries to stay out of the "Big House". Well, Lindsey is getting her infusion of Thymoglobulin and it is going fine ~ she had quite a fever and chills for a time last night, but drugs are a wonderful thing and they helped her fall asleep and relax comfortably through the night. The reason for the second night is that they cannot start the second infusion until 24 hours after the first one, and of course, that wasn't until late in the day. They had Jacob bring her into the hospital at 8 a.m., and nothing happened until 2:30 in the afternoon - figures ! By the time they finish the infusion late tonight, it would be foolish for them to drive home and get up early in the morning to go back for follow up bloodwork. If they behave themselves they will be released on their own recognizance in the morning. Always do whatever you can to stay out of the "Big House" !!
