First Step

Wednesday, Lindsey will be admitted to the hospital for an infusion of Thymoglobulin. This material makes it easier for her body to accept Shelley's stem cells. They do the infusion in the hospital because it is part of a study, so they need a controlled environment in which they monitor the patient around the clock. There is also a chance it would cause her to have a fever, since they are injecting a foreign substance. Other than that, they expect no other problems. She will stay in one or two nights and then come home. The newlyweds plan to spend Christmas up on Lookout Mountain with the Skogens, and her pre-transplant chemo's will begin a few days after that. Shelley is recuperating from her foot surgery, her fiance Mike is with us, and she is doing well. Shelley will begin neupogen shots to draw out her stem cells after Christmas.
