Pretty Good Day

Lindsey's numbers went up on their own today, and she didn't need a blood transfusion after all! That's good ~ that means that Shelley's stem cell graft is beginning to create Lindsey's new immune system. There will be ups and downs, of course, and she will probably need many transfusions along the way, but not today. She felt pretty good when she got home. At the clinic, they were able to infuse her anti-fungal medication using less benadryl, so Lindsey didn't sleep all day. That's good. She was much more alert and felt much better because they were able to reduce the medications that they have to give her to protect her from the side effects of the anti-fungals. It's all very complicated, but I thank God that they have the smart minds at BMTGA who have figured all of this stuff out. They give you one medication to protect you from the side effects of another, and then another to protect you from the side effects of that one! It's a delicate balance, and we thank God every day that there are people who are smart enough to figure it all out !
