good week

Lindsey has been feeling pretty good this week. She still has some congestion, but not much. Jacob surprised her and showed up yesterday at her mid-week blood draw at Northside. Last night they went into Atlanta and met a few friends for dinner. He will go back to Lookout Mountain today. Tomorrow (Friday) she gets another blood draw. They are checking often so that they know when to begin her shots of Neupogen. The neupogen shots make her white blood count skyrocket. That encourages the stem cells out into the bloodstream and that's when they collect them. The stem cell collection schedule could begin as soon as Sunday, but definitely sometime this coming week. The collection process can take as little as 4 hours, or as long as 10 days. Every patient is different. They know how many cells they need based upon her height and weight. Once they have them, they will schedule her high dose (big blast) chemotherapy treatment. We're not sure if that will begin right after stem cell collection or if they'll wait a week, but we'll find out soon !
