1100 + Engraftment + early release for good behavior
Lindsey's neutrophil count was 1100 this morning - more than double what she needed to get the doctor to sign her parole papers ~ she's outta here this afternoon ! Her stem cells have "engrafted". They are beginning the rebuilding process of her bone marrow. Her throat is feeling better, no fevers and she should see an increase in her energy levels today. Her doctor said yesterday that she was doing remarkably well. She just asked the nurse for pancakes for breakfast ~ no more liquids and mush! And you should see her tan! A side effect of one of the chemotherapy drugs (busulfan) is that it "tans" your skin. She looks like she spent spring break at the beach and not in the hospital. Not bad.......! Now we continue our "count" to 100 days. Tomorrow, we will begin our daily trips up to the BMTG Clinic again, where they will continue to give Lindsey the support she needs for recovery. She'll get fluids, blood products, potassium, magnesium, whatever she needs help with. She still must stay away from "sick" people and crowds are a no-no. Her room and environment must be kept especially clean, and she must take walks every day. She will tire easily for the next 20-30 days, but her energy should increase daily. And of course, she takes handfuls of pills everyday. Thanks for all of your prayers and good wishes; Lindsey loves opening her mail everyday and finding the "links". Our family and friends definitely have a direct line to heaven ~ your prayers are being answered!
