New Treatment Plans
We've been in Oklahoma since Tuesday, it is now Friday night. Our consultation with the doctor here did not go as we had expected. In addition to the cyberknife treatment that Lindsey will have in the coming days, we have begun plans for her to have an Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant; a treatment program that will involve the next 9-12 months. We expected that the doctor here would be able to take care of the remnants of the Hodgkins using the Cyberknife, but he just couldn't promise that he could eradicate it for good. He recommended that she undergo the Cyberknife, and then return to Atlanta and begin another transplant. After the initial shock of receiving this information, (Andy and Jacob both joined us immediately) we are doing much better since their arrival. There are many details to be worked out, of course, but the overall plan is for Lindsey and Jacob to move back to Georgia to live with us during this treatment. Jacob will have to leave his job at the High School, and he will act as Lindsey's primary caregiver. I will be the back up. Over the next few months we will be planning and organizing the many changes in all of our lives that will need to occur in order for this to happen. I will keep everyone abreast on this BLOG as best I can, because we are going to need help in many ways. We will keep you posted, as I know that there are many hands that will be eager to help, and we will have many opportunities for that to happen. We continue to be thankful for everyone's thoughts and prayers during this trial. Please keep Lindsey and Jacob in your prayers.
